Creating a PPPoE Connection – Windows 10/11

Sometimes to test an NBN connection you will need to isolate your network and connect directly to the NBN NTU.

An isolation test is performed by isolating equipment on your network to ascertain if there are any issues internally, and if there are, which equipment it may be due to.

Please note this only applies to the following NBN connection types:

  • Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)
  • Fixed Wireless
  • HFC
  • FTTC

Disconnect existing Ethernet cable NBN NTU, and connect a laptop or computer with a new Ethernet cable directly to the NBN NTU

  • Press the “Windows key and X” and click Settings
  • Click  Network and Internet
  • Click Dial-up
  • Click Set up a new connection
  • Select Connect to the Internet and click Next
  • Select Broadband (PPPoE)
  • In the User name field enter your NBN username, e.g. username@internet.url.net.au
  • In the Password field enter your NBN Password
  • Click Connect
