Creating a PPPoE Connection – Mac OS X

Creating a PPPoE Connection – Mac OS X

Sometimes to test an NBN connection you will need to isolate your network and connect directly to the NBN NTU.

An isolation test is performed by isolating equipment on your network to ascertain if there are any issues internally, and if there are, which equipment it may be due to.

Please note this only applies to the following NBN connection types:

  • Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)
  • Fixed Wireless
  • HFC
  • FTTC

Disconnect existing Ethernet cable NBN NTU, and connect a laptop or computer with a new Ethernet cable directly to the NBN NTU

  • From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences
  • Select Network
  • Click the + sign to add a new connection
  • Choose PPPoE from the Interface menu
  • Under Ethernet make sure your Local Area Network interface is selected
  • Click Create
  • Enter your NBN username in the Account Name field e.g. username@internet.url.net.au
  • Enter your NBN password in the Password field
  • Click Connect
